___My Views

I have some views on moral issues, thought I may as well express them on here.

Abortion

I agree with abortion as a solution in some cases. If a girl is raped, or if there is something which will cause harm to either the mother or the child, then I think abortion is suitable. For example, if the mother is diagnosed with a medical condition which means that giving birth to a child could result in her death, then is it really fair to go ahead with the birth? Without a proper mother, the child is in greater and unnecessary risk. Of course, the perfect adoptive parents could be found, but I personally would rather not take the chance.

One of the iffy situations is if someone is careless and has an unwanted pregnancy. In this case, I would normally say abortion is a selfish way out - if you're having sex with someone, it's your own responsibility not to get pregnant. Even if something happens eg. the condom splits, there are other forms of contraception that can be used afterwards. If you get pregnant, then it's your own fault and you should face the consequences. That might sound a bit selfish, but I really don't think it's as selfish as essentially killing a baby because of your stupidity. HOWEVER, if this is the case and you aren't financially apt to look after a child, then perhaps abortion is an option. I'm not really sure what to say about this one, it's a bit of a tough cookie. Should you go ahead and give birth to a child that you know you won't be able to bring up? Is it worth it if the kid's going to have a shit upbringing? There are a few pros and cons to that one, and I'm not sure what to think. All I know is I'm fucking terrified of getting pregnant, and I have no idea what I'd do.

Euthanasia

I agree 100% with euthanasia. Of course, if it was legalised, there could be some people abusing the system, having it as an easy way out. I think there should be a strict set of rules to go ahead with it, but it certainly shouldn't be illegal. If someone is suffering and is physically unable to commit suicide, why should they have to go through so much pain if they're willing to let someone else assist their death? It's really unfair, in my opinion. People have the right to choose how to live, so why shouldn't they have the right to choose how to die?

So would you rather die in severe pain, or die with dignity? Bit of a stupid question really, of course you'd choose the second one. And that's what the lack of law surrounding euthanasia is stopping. GO THE GOVERNMENT.

Religion

Religion is a funny one. I have some religious beliefs. I believe in God, or at least, I believe that something incredible and supernatural is out there. I believe that this world could not have possibly come into existence as complex as it is without something there to create and perhaps maintain it. I'm not sure if I believe in the orthodox Christian God - a completely powerful and caring being that's maintaining the world at all times and guiding everyone. But I definitely think there is something out there that we haven't quite discovered yet.

What I hate about religion is the strict rules, and the way they try to impose those rules on everyone. I also, and this is the main one, fucking HATE how they contradict themselves constantly by going to war against a particular country that doesn't share their beliefs. What a fucking pathetic reason. There is absolutely no need, and while I have nothing against people believing certain things because of a religion, what is the point in hating others for not believing the same thing? It's ridiculous, especially if you're preaching against violence.

Which is why probably the only religion I really like is Buddhism. Admittedly, some of that can also be quite silly, but most of it is simply logic. Not only that, but instead of saying 'YOU MUST BELIEVE THIS OR YOU'LL DIE A HORRIBLE DEATH AND GO TO HELL!', the Buddha emphasised that followers should instead challenge his ideas and turn them into their own beliefs. Why can't all religions be like that? Stupid things.
